Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District Board Ends Contract with General Manager
San Rafael, CA (November 22, 2021) — At its regular meeting of Thursday November 18, 2021, the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District Board of Directors terminated the employment contract with General Manager Mike Prinz. The “at-will” agreement with Mr. Prinz was set to expire on December 31, 2021. The Board decided not to pursue renewal of that contract, ending Mr. Prinz’s employment with the District, effective immediately.
“The Board thanks Mike for his service to the District over the last three years,” said Crystal Yezman, President of the District’s Board of Directors. “He’s been instrumental in moving the District forward with several key initiatives, most notably the Secondary Treatment Plant Upgrade and Recycled Water Expansion Project, as well as in updating our Sewer Lateral Ordinance and other crucial operational strategies. The Board wishes him well in his next endeavor.”
The Board will soon appoint an Interim General Manager, and initiate a recruitment process to fill the General Manager position. The District’s Administrative Services Manager, Dale McDonald, will serve as Acting General Manager until the interim role is filled.
The Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary Sewer District serves 30,000 customers in the northern San Rafael area and manages approximately 105 miles of sewage collection pipelines. In addition to the wastewater treatment plant, the District also produces recycled water and is involved in solar and biogas power generation, garbage collection, and a multi-faceted reclamation project which includes a wildlife pond, irrigated pastures, recycled water storage ponds, and a saltwater marsh.
